Escape Simulator Celebrates Community Creations: New Room 'What The Fox' and Level Editor Features

January 23, 2026

Escape Simulator, the popular first-person puzzler, continues to expand with new content and community-driven experiences. Players can now dive into a new room created by Bart, a Polish room builder who started crafting escape rooms as a Christmas gift in 2021.

Bart's latest addition, titled "What The Fox," is a complex creation featuring 134 custom models, a wealth of 2D art, ten minutes of voice acting, and an extensive collection of LUA scripts. The room exemplifies how Bart applies a simple recipe to ensure puzzles seamlessly fit their theme, whether the setting involves pirates, dogs, or spies.

The designer categorizes puzzles into two distinct types. The first involves situations where the player knows what to do but lacks the method to execute it, while the second requires the player to deduce the correct action that leads to an instant solution. Bart’s personal favorite puzzle type involves placing items into specific slots guided by written clues describing their positions.

Feedback has been an important part of Bart's process. "I learned the hard way that puzzles that are too hard and boring are not satisfying for players," Bart noted. This commitment to player satisfaction has shaped the design of "What The Fox." Beyond this latest release, Bart plans to develop an original game in the future.

Escape Simulator allows players to explore highly interactive escape rooms solo or in online co-op. Players can move furniture, pick up and examine items, smash pots, and break locks. The game also features a robust level editor, enabling access to thousands of community-made rooms.

More details about the new room and updates are available on the Steam Community Announcement page.
