Project Castaway: New Features and Bug Fixes Released January 24, 2026
January 24, 2026 - The survival crafting title Project Castaway has received a significant update, bringing new features and a comprehensive bug fix list to players stranded in the Pacific Ocean.
Project Castaway challenges players to survive on a remote island with limited resources. The game has been updated to include all missing localization, making the entire experience fully localized. Players can now enjoy the game in their preferred language with improved text accuracy.
New Features
- Mobile Storage Cart: Players can now utilize a mobile storage cart to store a wide variety of items.
- Enhanced UI: Missing icons have been added to the hammer building UI, and the names on hammer-built structures no longer display unnecessary brackets.
- Improved Biome Generation: The biome generation math has been optimized to harness multi-threaded CPUs, resulting in improved loading times of 1.7x to 1.8x.
- Translation Overhaul: The entire game's text has been re-translated for greater accuracy in certain languages.
Bug Fixes
- Respawn Timer Adjustment: Respawn times have been increased from 20 minutes to 1 hour. Ongoing queued respawns from previous save files will continue their existing timer.
- Item Fixes: Fixed items being consumed when adding materials to a structure due to player standing on the structure.
- Environment Fixes: Fixed the UI layout for the hammer building UI on first opening, and adjusted the loot scale of palm trees to match standard sizes.
- Gameplay Fixes: Removed unsupported gold arrows that were causing issues with bow functionality. Fixed a scenario where previous challenge data would interfere with current challenges.
